"Oxygen feeds a cell just as easily as it feeds a fire."  -- Slider K. Shaftacular (3 seconds ago in my own mind)

Day by day I grow more assured that individual choice is the center of both the great rights and the great wrongs of the world.  Violence when peace is an option.  Starvation while we still have enough food for everyone.  Willful denial of climate change and other ecological catastrophes, racism, religious intolerance, avaricious politics, rampaging war as foreign and domestic policy.  People (not Americans, not foreigners, not liberals, not conservatives, simply people -- all of us) continue to make choices that detract from the greater good.

I don't know why I conceived of this oxygen one-liner except that it's my best and most simple way of stating how tired I am of debates over right or wrong.  Whether it's guns that kill people or people that kill people -- both kill people!  The earth is getting warmer, no it's not -- what matters is that dumping toxic shit in our water, air and under mountains is dangerous and deadly in the long-term!  We need to tax the wealthy, no we need to cut benefits to the poor -- figure it out and keep in mind that there should be enough for everybody to eat!  The oxygen thing is my way of saying that all of nature, all of humanity has the capacity for both benefit and harm.    Let's stop questioning whether God or nature or karma or morality or law or philosophy or love or economy or patriotism or science or peace or justice or individuality or freedom is the guiding truth of our lives.  Serenity and danger are omnipresent and hand-in-hand across the universe.  It's up to us to figure that out and tack toward the serene.

Now that I've vomited my thoughts on this page, I'll shut up.  And think.  And try to be better tomorrow.  In the meantime, I'm going to meditate a little more on something from NASA which I feel to be inherently good.
