I haven't watched a single episode of True Detective. I want to. I'm a huge Twin Peaks guy, and from what little I know, TD seems to be in the spirit of TP. But I don't have HBO, and I don't have time right now. The plan was to catch True Detective by some alternative media delivery mechanism.
Given the magic of Twin Peaks was in the slow, agonizing revelations about Bob, Laura, Leland and the Black Lodge, I'm trying my best to stay away from anything and everything regarding True Detective. I don't want to know character names. I don't want to know plot points. I don't want to know what everyone is talking about.
Thus I'll be avoiding the internet for the next several days. In just my morning browsing at breakfast, I saw articles with True Detective or Yellow Kingin the title on Slate, Time, Newsweek and the Atlantic. Even my favorite sports radio show, "Boers & Bernstein" was talking True Detective all week. Damn white people pandering!
My name is Slider K. Shaftacular. I am a blogger. Or "blah-g"er, as my friend Rose would say. My job is to waste my time giving opinions of zero consequence in digital form about subjects far and wide. News media: your job is different than mine. There's a big freaking world out there. The 19th century is playing out in Crimea with 21st century consequences pending. Do I really need to be exposed to everyone's theory on an 8 episode mini-series? Does each media outlet
Stop spoiling my fun. Do your job.
